Many women have admitted to me that much of their time in the pool as a child was spent pretending to be a mermaid. This trend seems to span across generations because my niece is the exact same way. I wouldn’t be surprised if my daughter suddenly starts flipping her imaginary fins in a couple of years either.
Which is why it is with great pleasure that I announce something awesome happening in Ann Arbor, Michigan: Mermaid Swim School.
If you are wondering what Mermaid Swim School entails, here is an overview of the curriculum:
“The World of Swimming website explains that the Mermaid School swim classes combine swimming, gymnastics and fitness, focusing on: dolphin kicks; controlling body movement and breathing; swimming under water (on your stomach and back); free vertical dives; backward and forward somersaults; mermaid surfacing; and swimming underwater with music.”
According to the photos, it appears that the students wear a fin accessory. This would make the experience a lot more life-like and fun for everyone.
It seems to look pretty realistic too! I vote we expand Mermaid Swim School across the country so that everyone can have access to this fun idea.
Once your kids graduate at the top of their mermaid swim class, you could reward the with an Underwater Audio Waterproof iPod Shuffle!
They can listen to all their favorite songs while swimming around the pool in the hot summer sun! It’s the perfect gift.

This pandemic has taught me that while I can’t control what’s going on in the world, I can control my mindset. For me, this looks like finding a few things to be grateful for each morning... With that said, I wanted to share my gratitude list with all of you:
