Aquaguard

We all know how gross hair feels after lap swimming, especially in a chlorine pool. That “gross” feeling, it turns out, is actually the result of the pool’s chemicals damaging your hair! What if you could prevent that damage to your hair? What if there was a product that could protect your hair from damage while you are swimming?

New Solution

We have good news! Underwater Audio has come out with a new product called AquaGuard that protects swimmers’ hair from the damage that often comes from long exposure to chlorine. It is a pre-swim hair defense that works as a leave in conditioner, moisturizing and shielding the hair from harmful effects of pool water.

Chlorine DAMAGE

If you are swimming often or for long hours, chlorine exposure can strip away the natural oils that your scalp produces to protect your head and hair from dehydration and damage. Chlorine can cause your hair to become dry, brittle, and dull; even worse, it can cause it to fade and split. It can even cause your hair to turn green!  That green tinge comes from the chlorine oxidizing bits of metal from the water that bond to your hair.  Aqua Guard coats the swimmer’s hair in medicated oils and other protective agents that help keep your hair healthy and strong and help you resist the effects of regular exposure to chlorine.

More Risk for Damage

If you use hair color treatment products like hair dye, you hair is at increased risk of damage from chlorine. Bleaching and highlighting is especially high-risk because of how harsh those things can be on your hair. You should also be extra worried about chlorine if your hair is thin or fine, chemically relaxed or permed, naturally dry, or previously damaged. It’s always important to protect your hair, and Aqua Guard is a great product for that.

Using Aqua Guard

There are a few things you should keep in mind when using this product to keep your hair protected. First, be sure to wet your hair with non-chlorinated water before entering the water. This is helpful because your hair is like a sponge and will absorb more of those chemicals that damage your hair when dry. Apply the Aqua Guard hair treatment after your hair is wet, and then if you’d like to wear a cap as well, that can give added protection. After swimming, be sure to wash and rinse your hair thoroughly.

We want to help you to keep your hair healthy, and we are so excited about the new product, Aqua Guard! Underwater Audio offers a 5.3 oz bottle. In addition, we are now including a 1 oz travel size with any US order that includes a waterproof iPod from our website!
