Summer 2014: Paddle Boarding with Swimming Headphones is Trending Upward

The newest craze to sweep the nation is none other than Paddle Boarding, but not just regular paddle boarding…stand up paddle boarding to be exact.

Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) has been steadily gaining popularity on both coasts over the last few years as an alternative to regular surfing and as a way to get a workout on the water.

What is paddle boarding?

This fun and exciting activity can be done by anyone, at any experience level, whether you’re an expert, just getting started, or brand new. It’s an easy and fun sport to jump right into.
Newbies can develop balance and strengthen their core by learning on flat, still water. More advanced paddlers can race, ride waves and even paddle down rivers for a challenge!
This is something people are doing all over the world. It’s something you can do anywhere there’s water, really – in lakes, rivers, or even in the ocean. You can make it really fitness- or surfing-based, or you can make it a serene experience and never even stand up if you’re just floating down a river.

Paddle Boarding Yoga

If leisurely stand up paddle boarding isn’t quite enough for you, you can try your hand at Paddle Boarding Yoga. Yes, you read that correctly. Paddle boarding yoga is all the rage these days.

With Paddle boarding yoga, the key is to maintain a balance with yourself and the water.

First, the movement of water below the board challenges the balance and the frame of mind. If the board has a built in handle, this is known as the “Point of Balance” while paddling and during a yoga session.
Your whole midsection will have to work to keep you balanced and afloat. You have to work harder and focus more on the water.
This makes it a great workout for your entire body. It is challenging yet relaxing and helps you find your center, all the while floating on top of water out in nature. What could be better?
