Surfing with a Theme Song

There’s nothing better than grabbing your board and heading to the waves to get some surfing in. What if you could listen to music while you did it, though? Having your jams with you might just be what you need to enhance your time in the ocean.

Longer Duration & Concentration

Music can have an amazing effect on our minds. It distracts and makes us less aware of physical exertion. This then causes pain to be postponed, allowing for more time on the waves! According to The Guardian being distracted by your tunes can improve athletic performance by up to 15 percent.
Balance and catching the waves takes some concentration, especially if you’re new to surfing or trying a spot you’ve never been to. Though music may distract you from pain, it also allows you to zero in on what you ARE trying to focus on. It allows the athlete to more easily picture in their head what they want to accomplish and how they will do so. This would be incredibly helpful for surfing to concentrate on the specific movement of where you are and where you’re going next.

You can find the perfect waterproof player and headphones here.
Tell us your thoughts! How does music help you? What would your “walk-up song” be?
