When it comes to diving, make sure you’re not alone so someone can call for help if something goes wrong.
And start simple—make sure you’re a pro at the simple dives before moving on to more difficult dives.
By now you’ve probably done the cannonball and somersault dives a million times. Here’s a list of different diving board tricks you can try to impress all your friends next time you’re in the pool. Cowabunga!

Beginner Dives

“The Can Opener” dive is a great beginner’s dive to practice before moving on to more difficult dives. Hold one knee to your chest while you jump off the board, tilt back slightly, then straighten your opposite leg before hitting the water. Big splash!
For the “Flying Squirrel”, grab your ankles immediately after leaving the board. Lean forward, and enjoy the breeze as you fly into the water. A big smackdown is the perfect ending to this airborne dive.

Advanced Dives

“The Front Flip” is a more advanced move that takes a lot of practice. The first step is to get a running start on the diving board with your hands overhead.
Once you’ve left the board, move your arms downward and move into a tightly tucked cannonball position. Getting into cannonball is key to mastering this tricky dive.
The 360 can be done with a snowboard or by jumping off a diving board. When diving, the key is to rotate your body in a complete axis midair. You finish the dive with your body in a straight pencil dive formation.
