With that in mind, let’s celebrate the awesomeness that is whitewater rafting. Here are the top 3 locations to whitewater raft around the world:

1. Middle Fork, Salmon River, Idaho

Who knew? Seriously, Idaho? It’s our neighboring state… I had no idea that this river was so hard core. Apparently, Salmon River is one of the most popular whitewater rivers in the planet. The rapids get pretty intense (up to Class IV).
And according to the photographs I found while researching, the landscape is out of this world. It’s easy to enjoy nature while surrounded by all those Alpine forests and quartz monzonite rock formations that are several million, if not a billion years old.
A word of caution: my dad likes to hunt big game in Idaho. So, don’t be surprised if you see a black bear, elk or moose. I happen to know that all those animals can be found in the wild there.

2. Futaleufú River, Chile

I have a few good friends that lived in Chile for 2 years and they totally loved the country and the people. The Futaleufú River is extremely stunning and alarmingly blue. And probably very cold because the water source
comes from the melted snow trickling down from the Andes. One thing about this river that is great is that every skill level can enjoy rafting on it. You just have to find the right area that matches the intensity you can handle. The most intense areas are Class V rapids.
These rapids will test even the most skillful and experienced rafters. But, even if you are a beginner, there are areas of this river that will work for you.

3. Zambezi River, Zimbabwe/Zambia

Zambia is like a whole new world. I have heard some very animated stories about this foreign land from a family friend who lived there for a year. There are many thrilling things to see there. Among it’s many wonders is the Zambezi River. The Batoka Gorge is the spot we are highlighting. This is the area best known
for epic water rafting. “There are 23 rapids in a 15-mile (24-kilometer) stretch below the Victoria Falls.” And the location is totally unreal. It’s scenic canyons and waterfalls will mystify you with their wonder.
And they will probably also mist-ify you… I know I just made that word up but seriously, look at the photo, doesn’t it look misty around those falls? It’s super majestic.
