Your Waterproof Music System: Best Audiobooks and Music for Swim Entertainment

There have been countless studies conducted on the effects music and audio books have on your performance during any physical activity and swimming is no different. Not only does it help improve your performance, but  it keeps your mind active and alert.
It is especially helpful if you are doing something repetitive such as swimming laps, or running on a treadmill.  If you are completely into the song or the audio book you’re listening to, you won’t seem to notice the time and it will fly by.

1. AUDIOBOOKS

When you get yourself engrossed in the latest John Grisham thriller, you’ll probably find that you can you_are_an_ironman_by_jacques_steinberg_smallput in a dozen or so extra laps without even realizing it.
Or maybe you want to try something light hearted and funny. There are countless comedy audio books you could choose from.
You can check Amazon’s best seller list for popular audio books. A few of my personal favorites that come to mind would be “Bossypants” by Tina Fey, “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” by Mindy Kaling, or Chelsea Handler’s latest “Uganda Be Kidding Me.”
Another genre that is great for listening to while exercising are Thrillers. The top 3 thriller audio books right now are “Field of Prey” by John Sanford, “Unlucky 13” by James Patterson and “The Target” by David Baldacci.

2. MUSIC

If you are not a huge fan of audiobooks, then you can listen to music instead. It doesn’t matter what kind of music it is, as long as it gets you pumped and excited.

Synchronous music, which is music coordinated with body movements, can improve performance for endurance tasks. Studies have found that both pleasurable synchronous music and oudeterous (non-pleasurable) synchronous music resulted in significant endurance improvements in a treadmill exhaustion test as compared to a non-music control.

Music is infectious and will move you whether you’re aware of it or not. It’s nearly impossible to get through a work out without music to help push you to your limits.

None of this would be possible though without having a waterproof music system.
Without it, you can’t listen to music or audio books while you’re working out. Purchasing a waterproof music system is a great investment. Anytime you think you’ll be sweating a lot, near water, or swimming- you’ll need one.
And swimmers need music just as much as runners or gymnasts. It is definitely something that will benefit you in the long run. You can check them out here.
