About underwater audio

It all began when one of the founders of Underwater Audio started looking for a music player to listen to music while swimming and fight off the boredom of laps.

There are several waterproof proprietary mp3 players on the market, but he loved the idea of using one of Apple’s products because it allowed him to access his current music library as well as listen to books using his Audible account. There are other companies that waterproof iPods, but, being an engineer, he had concerns with the process that many companies used.

Reviews on Amazon supported his concerns, showing how many times people had to return their units. That’s when he decided that if he wanted a robust, truly water proof iPod, he would need to figure it out for himself. “When my third iteration failed after three weeks in testing,” he comments, “I knew it was a challenge worth solving.”
