CONVERT ITUNES FILES TO MP3

If you are using iTunes to download songs onto your SYRYN MP3 player, you will need to convert the files into MP3 format. In order to do this, your version of iTunes needs to have the conversion setting adjusted to MP3. Typically, Apple has the default set as an AAC file, which will not play on your SYRYN. The following 5 minute video explains how to load files onto the SYRYN, including converting them to MP3 format.

CONVERT ITUNES FILES TO MP3 FORMAT

First, make sure that your iTunes is using the correct encoder to put the songs in MP3 format (see above). Briefly, you can check the encoder by:

  • Windows: clicking Edit > Preferences > Import Settings, then select MP3 Encoder in the first box.
  • Mac: clicking iTunes > Preferences > Import Settings, then select MP3 Encoder in the first box

Any version of iTunes after 12.4.1 is slightly different than the older versions when it comes to converting a song to MP3 format. Instead of right-clicking on the song you want to change, you click on the song title, and then go to File > Convert > Create MP3 Version.

You will see a second copy of the song begin to form. That is the version you can drag and drop onto your SYRYN player. Again, the file needs to be in MP3 format, or else it will not play on a SYRYN.

CONVERT ITUNES FILES TO MP3 FORMAT: OLDER VERSIONS

First, make sure that your iTunes is using the correct encoder to put the songs in MP3 format (see above). Briefly, you can check the encoder by:

  • Windows: clicking Edit > Preferences > Import Settings, then select MP3 Encoder in the first box.
  • Mac: clicking iTunes > Preferences > Import Settings, then select MP3 Encoder in the first box.

Once that is set, here are the instructions on how to convert your iTunes files to MP3s:

  • Open iTunes and make a playlist for the songs you are going to add to your SYRYN. To make a playlist, click on file (top left of screen) and then “New”, and then “Playlist”. Name your playlist.

  • Click on My Music to return to your music library.

  • Right-click on the song you want to move to your SYRYN Player. When you right-click, you should see a menu pop up.

  • Click on “Create MP3 Version”. You should see a second version of the song being downloaded.

  • After the song has finished downloading, drag the new version to the playlist you created. If you have multiple songs you want to re-format, simply hold down the CTRL button while clicking the songs you want. Then right-click and select Create MP3 Version. The only thing with this is that you’ll have to remember which exactly which one was the new MP3 version.
  • Once you have finished creating MP3 versions of the songs you want on your SYRYN, you should be able to drag and drop them to your SYRYN folder under “My Computer”.
