Music Converting Instructions

The SYRYN, Uku, and Swimbdus MP3 play MP3 files and it will only play songs in MP3 format. Here’s how to convert your files if they are not already in the correct format.


PC Music Conversion Instructions

  • Open iTunes to check the file format of your songs.
    • Go to your Library, then select Songs.
    • Look towards the top of the list of songs where it shows the categories: Name, Genre, Time, Artist, etc.
    • Right-click on the top menu to change your category settings.
    • A menu with category options will pop up. Select "Kind" so that it is check-marked and now showing on your top menu.
    • Select the category “Kind”. This will organize your music by file type.
    • Look for the type of files listed underneath the kind column. MP3 or MPEG files will play on the SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3.
      (You can now copy and paste or drag and drop any MP3 or MPEG file onto your SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 when your SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 is plugged into your computer.)
    • AAC or other file formats will need to be converted.
    • If it says protected, this music is, unfortunately, protected by Apple, and you won't be able to use it with your SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 as it is only compatible with Apple devices.
  • To convert an AAC file (or another file type) to MP3 format, you will be saving a duplicate copy of the file in another file format.
    • Select “Edit” on the top navigation, then select “Preferences”.
    • A new window will pop-up. Select “Import Settings”.
    • A new window will pop-up. Change the “Import Using” drop-down to select “MP3 Encoder”. Then click OK and click OK again.
    • This will now allow your iTunes settings to convert audio files into MP3 files.
  • Navigate back to your music Library and Songs list.
    • Select the songs you wish to convert to MP3 format.
      (To select multiple songs, hold down the shift key and click on all of the songs. Selected files are highlighted blue.)
    • Once all of these songs are selected, go to “File” on the top navigation, then “Convert” then select “Create MP3 version”.
    • Once your selected songs are converted, you can now copy and paste or drag and drop those newly made MP3 or MPEG files onto your SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 when your SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 is plugged into your computer.
  • After the music is finished transferring onto the SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 player, eject the SYRYN, Uku, or Swimbdus MP3 and enjoy your next swimming!

MAC Music Conversion Instructions
